ALSO...

After months of hard work and working in partnership with Sutherland council , Moana womens health network, Shirewide youth services,Cronulla OCC, Port Hacking OCC and AOCRA NSW JDC"GUNNAREGATTA" took place on Saturday 21st April in Gunnamatta Bay Cronulla. At least 135 kids took part with families and friends cheering those that raced on. Thank you to those that helped out including Matahi Brightwell that attended and taught on the day. The kids enjoyed the day immensely. Photos are now on our Gallery page.

_LATEST TRAINING INFO:

Our men are paddling every Wednesday 5.30pm and Sunday 8am .... our women are meeting for land training Wednesday 5.30pm and for paddling every Saturday 8am. Please contact us first however as training will only go ahead if minimum numbers are met.

We are also looking for kids between the ages of 10-18 years interested in trying out waka ama/outrigger canoeing. Training sessions for kids (and any adult beginners) will be 5.30pm Monday or Friday nights to begin with (the only time coach will be available) once we get enough interest....meet outside Kyeemagh RSL Tancred Avenue...give Kei a call on 0410535960 or contact us via our web form first for further information.

MAIA OUTRIGGER CANOE CLUB: KYEEMAGH SYDNEY AUSTRALIA

Based in Kyeemagh, Sydney Australia  (approximately 5 minutes drive from Sydney airport) Maia Outrigger canoe club is a not for profit outrigger canoe club formed by a small group of experienced sprint and ocean racing paddlers. Outrigger canoeing is our passion and we hope to pass the skills learnt and the love of the sport we have for it, on to those who are willing to learn.

We aim to use outrigger canoeing as a tool to assist those within the community that are looking to become less socially isolated and want to improve not only their health and fitness but to also increase and foster valuable life skills and qualities such as leadership, communication skills, working as a team, discipline and self esteem.

OUTRIGGER CANOEING IS FOR EVERYONE!

Outrigger canoeing is a sport which doesn't discriminate, and has proven to transcend age, gender and cultural boundaries. It's a sport for all, a sport which concentrates on team work, respect and harmony with nature and each other.
