As well as them you get people like Eddie, Louise and Hinga ...these guys are new to our beloved sport of waka ama and they have turned up consistently during winter..inspiring us older paddlers to say the very least..thank you for your enthusiasm..its people like you that keeps clubs like ours alive..you ROCK! (ps if Ive left anyone off by mistake pls let me know!)
Thank you Hinga for fixing the trolley by the way..no trolley= no paddling so thank you !!! And thanks to Paora and Cheydon for trying to fix the OC1s ama ;)
Some of us feel like hefalumps at the moment..we may be introducing a "biggest loser" type competition amongst any interested paddlers..will discuss at training on Sun to see what y'all think :)
The youth initiative down in Gunnamatta bay has been canned until September....council and youth groups associated with the initiative decided it'd make sense as weather has been too cold and rugby is still clashing..found out today through a lucky text sent to one of the girls that has been paddling with us..lucky else I wouldve gone down there as previously planned tmrw with no one showing up!!! :(
A couple of us Maia coaches attended the AOCRA coaches course held in Gunnamatta Bay last weekend led by Jane Hall and Stewart Hayes...was an awesome course...extremely informative and we actually paddled (something I haven't done in a while ha ha ).. we will be dishing out some torture discovered during this course onto our unsuspecting Maia paddlers..over the next month we are planning on having a brain storming session amongst the experienced paddlers where we will nut out training plans for our paddling sessions.
Its gonna be summer before we know it..and race season...*shudder*..race season....hopefully we'll be able to say "chaa neat alrite" instead of "shame..quick... lets flip the waka..quick... we're coming last...and theres no way we can catch up to that golden oldies team..hurry up men..flip it flip it!!..someone loosen the kiato from the canoe..shame.."
